Update: Take the information in this post with a grain, a big grain of salt. Sweatcoin, in my opinion, has lost its way and you may want to read my newest post before you spend any money on Sweatcoin: Is Sweatcoin a Scam?
Sweatcoin is making some big changes to its tier system of earning coins. Going forward you will have the option of purchasing the new Sweatcoin Premium tier. So, is Sweatcoin Premium worth it? Let’s take a look at the cost and the benefits of Sweatcoin Premium and then determine if it is worth it.
Sweatcoin Premium is great for people who take A LOT of steps a day. To be worthwhile you must be consistently taking more than 25,000 steps per day. While earning steps is faster, especially if you walk a lot, the extra perks are lacking. The exclusive items in the shop are overpriced and, quite often, sold out.
Old Versus New Tier System Of Earning Sweatcoins
Until very recently Sweatcoin offered 5 levels of earning possibilities, 1 was absolutely free, 3 cost Sweatcoins that you earn, and one level, the Trouble Maker, cost about $14 per year. That was the old system.
Apparently, there is a new 3-tier system. You now have the choice of (1) Free tier, (2) TroubleMaker, and (3) the new Premium tier.
The Free tier is exactly what you would expect. It costs nothing and you can earn Sweatcoins with the app simply by walking. There is a cap on how many Sweatcoins can be converted with the “free” tier. That is currently set at 10 Sweatcoins earned each day (about 10k steps).
Additionally, with the free app, you can purchase most items in the Sweatcoin store. These items range from percentage-off items to Sweatcoin auctions that offer $1000 and $500 gift cards, exercise gear (like The Mirror and Peloton), and other electronics (TVs, Earphones, etc).
The second tier is the Trouble Maker tier, which has been around for about a year now. The Troublemaker costs $1.49 per month or $7.49 for 6 months or $13.99 per year.
The benefits of the Trouble Maker tier are that every step you take counts as two AND you can earn up to 50 Sweatcoins per day. That really adds up and makes it much easier to earn some of the merchandise in the Sweatcoin store and auctions.
That brings us to the Sweatcoin Premium…
How Much Does Sweatcoin Premium Cost?
Like Trouble-Maker, Sweatcoin Premium costs real-world money. Premium will set you back either $4.99 per month or you can save more than a few bucks by paying for the full year at $24.99. That may sound like a lot but the perks are extensive.
What Benefits Come With Sweatcoin Premium?
In order to earn 1 Sweatcoin, you must take 1000 steps. 1000 steps are approximately 1/2 mile, so (some tough math here) for every mile you walk you earn 2 Sweatcoins. That is for the free tier. and remember that you can only earn 10 Sweatcoins per day. With the Premium, each step you take is doubled so for every mile you walk, you earn 4 Sweatcoins. Not only that, but with Premium, you can earn unlimited Sweatcoins every day. That means, if you walk 25 miles in a day, you would earn 100 Sweatcoins!
Granted, most people aren’t going to walk 25 miles a day. For Sweatcoin Premium to pay off, you would have to walk more than 25k steps in a day (occasionally)
In addition to the unlimited daily earning potential, Sweatcoin Premium also offers extra items in the shop that are exclusive to Sweatcoin Premium users. So far, and this is at the very beginning of the program, Sweatcoin has offered a $100 Amazon gift card for 5000 Sweatcoins (Not a great deal as I will show shortly), but these were sold out before I could have bought one.
The Next day there was the same $100 Amazon gift card, but this time it was priced at a whopping 7500 Sweatcoins! And they too were sold out. I guess people are really wanting to cash in the coins they have because, until now, you had the choice of Sweatcoin auctions with merchandise costing over 20k Sweatcoins to start, and percentage off merchandise that, in many cases, you could get just by going straight to the merchants’ websites.
The third Exclusive item that came along was a $10 Uber gift card for 750 Sweatcoins, and it is not sold out yet. At 12.5 miles per day, that would take you 15 days to earn ten bucks. Of course with the premium, you could earn that in one day if you walked about 188 miles that day. Just saying.
Is Sweatcoin Premium Worth It?
So, is Sweatcoin Premium worth it? Is it worth $25 per year? I think it’s a hard question. It is definitely worth buying if all you were doing is trying to earn MORE Sweatcoins by walking. The free tier caps your earnings at 10 Sweatcoins per day. If you walk a lot, or even slightly more than 25k steps per day, then you are leaving “money on the table” by not buying Sweatcoin Premium
BUT, are the steps you are earning above what you get for free really worth the money? That is harder to say. This is actually one of my biggest complaints with Sweatcoin. I have been walking every day for over a year and have earned a little over 14k Sweatcoins. When I started, that would have been enough for a $500 camera or a $600 TV, and it would have been only 4k away from earning a 5 day trip to Disney World.
But prices are increasing faster than I can keep up. That $600 TV that I could have bought outright a couple of years ago for 10k Sweatcoins, now is pushing 30k in the auctions.
So my final thoughts, (for now), on Sweatcoin Premium are:
- You will earn Sweatcoins for every step you take even if you take 100k steps in a day. (There is no cap on earnings) If you are taking that many steps a day then, by all means, buy Premium. You will be winning auctions in no time.
- Because most people don’t walk the equivalent of 12.5 miles per day, then Sweatcoin Premium does not offer a benefit for earning more Sweatcoins.
- Lastly, at least for now, The extra items in the shop are overpriced. Even being overpriced, they are selling out, so it feels like people are desperate to cash out, and I can’t blame them because the costs keep rising faster that you can earn.
Hi I got to your page because I went from troublemaker to premium in the hopes for some exclusive benefits and finding out of stock every single time, if I didn’t upgrade do you think I would have continued a troublemaker account or would that not have been possible, troublemaker was much better value especially if it turns out the cryptocurrency takes off well, what are your thoughts on that? And do you now know the time of premium exclusives being uploaded please?
Hi. You bring up some good questions and points. To my knowledge, Troublemaker is still available. It appears to be on my account, at least. But that is all, Free, Troublemaker, and Premium. I’m skeptical about the Crypto for several reasons, but my primary reason is that it isn’t available in the United States. Sweatcoin claims “regulatory issues.” Just saying. The last I checked with Sweatcoin, The Premium offers came out at 7:00 am EST. But, like you, I have yet to see any live ones, except for a couple of $5 Amazon for 8000 Sweatcoins, or something similarly overpriced. I was once excited about this app, but after 3+years of walking and over 20k sweatcoins, and about $60 of my money, I have become disillusioned with Sweatcoin.
Hello Anderson, please update my question as a comment, as I just discovered a statement of ineligibility for free trial once I clicked on subscribe.
Thanks for your critique on Sweatcoin, and it seems exactly as I experience it; a $160 tracker was just auctioned for over 28,000 sweatcoin. The premium offers appear randomly added and all are sold out whenever I open the store – I tried several times a day for a few days too.
As much as I like the concept of Sweatcoin, it seems that they are having a hard time earning money for themselves and making it possible for most participants to earn anything of value.
Hello.
Why do premium cost is not the same for all sweatcoin app? In order to upgrade to premium, i have to pay 31.40$ per year while on other apps it is much lower
Hello Roy,
I don’t know why the cost of Premium is different on different apps. You might try contacting Sweatcoin at info@sweatco.in
Hello Anderson,
I just finished the premium one week free trial offered for taking over 10,000 steps in one day. The first day back on the basic membership I took over 10,000 steps and now they are offering the premium again on a “1-week trial for free”.
Are you aware of any limitations or does it seem I can stay on premium membership indefinitely for free?
I see you have answered your question. The free trial only lasts for a limited time, but once you subscribe, your steps are doubled with no cap. Thanks for reading!
Then there is no limit in premium ..if i walk 100000..so i have 100sweatcoin
That is correct. You can earn as many Sweacoins as you can by walking. There is no cap, and your steps are doubled from the free version.
Were you subscribed to troublemaker before this update? I’m asking because after I updated my app, it’s only showing free and premium, no troublemaker.
Hello,
Yes I was subscribed to Troublemaker and yes Sweatcoin has dropped the tier system and now offers 2 choices…Free or Premium
At what time do they make the premium listings?
Hi Jeff, I have asked Sweatcoin this question, but I have not received a reply. I do know that the new auctions are starting at 7:00 in the morning Eastern time. I will start watching around that time to see if that is when they put out the new premium items. (I still think they are overpriced…$10 Starbucks card for 5000 Sweatcoins). No thanks.
5000 for a $10 uber eats voucher and 12000 for a $100 amazon voucher is a total rip off.
No arguments here. I’ve been hoping for some items under 20k-25k but these values are ridiculous…and yet they are flying off the shelves in minutes.
How much is the Amazon gift card like how much sweat coins
Hi Jason,
The Exclusive Amazon gift card for $100 costs 7,500 Sweatcoins. There is currently a $1000 Amazon gift card on the Sweatcoin auctions that is over 32,000 Sweatcoins (with 8 hours left to bid).
This shows that (1) the exclusive deals are expensive, and (2) prices are increasing rapidly. the $1000 gift card only cost 20,000 Sweatcoins less than a year ago on the auctions and the Exclusive $100 gift card only cost 5,000 the previous day.
Please note that the exclusive offers are selling out very quickly, like 15 minutes after they are up.
